tonal values and composition
I've been watching lots of watercolor painting tutorials lately. Many of them were stressing these two points:
1. Tonal values (get this right and no matter what colour you use, everything ends up well).
2. Composition (what goes where and how much of it is visible in terms of shapes). Some artists adds something from their memory, some removes the clutter and give more breathing space/environment to their work.
Here's two of such studies. I was not giving importance to the details in it.

This picture was posted by one of my friend in instagram. But with my limited watercolor skills I've captured it and here's the result.
