from the lost pages.

This was done long back in a simple unruled A3 notebook with a ball point pen.  Found this while dusting some old books.  It's quite surprising by the way it reveals where I started and where I'm ended up now.

Adèle Exarchopoulos

Watched the movie 'Blue Is the Warmest Color' and that was enough to inspire me to make these dark marks which eventually turned out to what you see below!

Audrey Tautou

I'm falling in love with this medium!

Shakthisree Gopalan

this was a quick one, the motive was to complete the sketch in 5.59 mins(same time that took for this cover version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt5eioErIWM) of some songs: looping in my headset). Unfortunately it looped twice when I reached this shape.

Anyways it was not that disappointing!!!  Enjoyed the process and got something to cherish when I come here later some time...

Ranjith Balakrishnan

This was the second one from the 30 day challenge, another one from my favorite film director list...

Chinmayi Sripaada

The plan was to cover 30 film directors by 30 days. But the plan broke loose as I told in the last post after 3 consecutive works.  Recently I picked the sketch pad to doodle this talent, with her songs looping in my speakers! Her voice just inspired to make strokes on paper which eventually resulted in this... how's it?

Padmarajan

I've created an account in wordpress and made some posts there in an intention to grab the attention of someone. But, it failed miserably and made me feel bad.  Meanwhile, I've started a challenge myself. It was really simple, doodle someone everyday for 30 days.  As always there also I failed to stick to the plan.  But I'm picking up stuffs on the process.  Here's one of my favorite Malayalam director. The way he touch the human mind at least couple of minds like mine...that was enough for getting inspired!!!

pen on paper

Normally I don't prefer blending the digital tools and traditional art stuff. But this was an experiment, and I should say it was a success by the overwhelming response that I got from my facebook page. It started out as a normal sketch as usual but as it began to take shape I wanted to make it even better which eventually made me to fill out the background with some cool (dark) color so that the features stood out. This is the first time where I'm adding something with a software to a drawing, I barely adjust the darkness/lightness to make it compatible with different screen brightness.

Selfie

I've heard this kind of story many a times.  Once you deliver 100% of your efforts to bring out the best in you, you die.  Yes, myths say that. I'll share one here...

It goes like this, there was a great artist sometime back and he did an idol of a goddess(I don't know the artist and goddess). The sculpture was so perfect that it inherited the best form it can acquire.  This artist on returning home just fainted and passed.
This  thought was looping in my head the whole time I did this portrait,  and just to make it safe I've not completed it.

nayantara

This lady is a leading actress in the south Indian film industry. For no specific reasons I never liked this lady. As always this beauty also fell prey for fame and controversies. Despite the controversies now I'm a great fan and if given a chance, would love to make a live portrait of hers!!!

Tom Hanks

Hope this year I would realize the resolution made, (completing 2 posts a month which adds to 24 posts). This was a quick one, one of my favorite actor.  Of course you would be more informed about this talent than me ;). Please do share your comments..

Anoushka Shankar

"When you do a portrait study the next time just pick one of my profile picture from Facebook". I've heard this from many of my friends. Of course I would be really happy to pick any of them and choose a good picture from the already hand picked ones(which always sorts out as profile pictures). But every time I end up doing something else. This time also, the case was no different.

I always admired the pluck instruments and one of the performance from this great artist was looping in my playlist.  Eventually, this was the result...

Saffron Burrows

Some where late last year I've read that we've to try different mediums. Who knows which one's is best suited for us? This one came out as a result of that...
Here I used Camel soft pastels in my 120GSM sketch pad. Hope it's not that bad :)

Arundhati Roy

Here comes the second one for the year...

first post from 2016

I had a resolution myself last year of posting at least two works here every month, which would add up to 24 posts in 2015.  Interestingly like most of my other resolutions this also failed and I could only come up with 20 posts.  This was not bad as compared to other resolutions since this missed by 4 posts. Okay stories and excuses aside here's my first post this year! This was done while travelling in train.
