2017 wrapping up.

Hopefully this would be the last watercolor portrait that has been done in 2017!  Still more to improve I know...

ink test

I used to be a great fan of fountain pens, but I'm not using them lately for their sole purpose as writing instruments.  While cleaning up my closet last week I came across the nostalgic ink pots lying there without any attention.  There were days in school where we used to lend drops of ink if our neighbor ran out of this precious liquid in his/her pen.  It was kind of a recollection of good old memories, the smell of it, the stains it made on hand and uniform. Wow... I don't know how this generation with tablets and digital devices could even understand what I key in here...[damn!!! am I that old to say this???].  Anyways, I thought of playing with it again ruminating those days... and here are the results!!!

#1

#2.
and the last one #3

the overall results were not that bad.  Well, I'm thinking of a new possibility of further pursuing the portraits with ink!!! maybe some brand which is more suited for these endeavors.

Will Smith

Well, I was attending a meeting where I was of no use.  Its hard to be in that position.  The worst part is when we are not given the choice to skip them.  Anyways this doodle turned up as an attempt to make that time useful.  This won't go in the office time sheet 😊, but yes it definitely stays in the time sheet of my life...

Ajith Kumar

Another one from my sketch book, this time with ball point pen.

Venkateswaran Dakshinamoorthy

People who enjoy and love the carnatic based movie songs will be very much aware of this beloved soul.  Not much explanation or story required to introduce this piece, I believe!  The motive was to finish the strokes with less than an hour and that was accomplished.  Could have improved more, but this looked satisfactory.

Shobana

This is the first post of the year, the subject is one of my favorite dancer.  It took less than an hour of one sitting(approx 50 mins) to make this. Hopefully I'm exploring and picking up the nuances of dynamic nature of this medium .  The size is about 1/4th of an A4 sheet :)
